Work in progress
There’s this parking lot right next to my job that I’ve eyed for a while now. A massive, cracked square of pavement covered in a thick layer of gravel. A few cones placed haphazardly. Large potholes full of water. And most importantly... No parked cars! Perfect for shenanigans!
Finished up at work and decided to finally play around a bit. The goal was to get the back end kicked out without putting a foot down or dropping the bike—thus changing direction in a very tight radius—then continue riding in the new direction. An hour of tearing the parking lot up later....
Feeling confident! Even on the (empty) paved streets it was pretty easy to slide around corners in 1st gear. New goal is to do a tight 180° slide at 15-20mph and ride out of it. I think I just need to go faster, lean the bike down lower, and make sure not to over- compensate too much when I stop rotating so I avoid high-siding myself off the scoot lol.
I’m very glad I bought this scooter before jumping onto a big super-naked. Similar to the Miata, the lack of power (and weight) is letting me figure out the driving (riding?) dynamics and work on all these little skills that would probably get me killed instantly on a Monster 1200 or similar.
So when do I start rolling in endorsement monies..?

Is that the security rolling in to tell you to quit screwing around and tearing up the parking lot?

Two guys on what I think were Daytonas stopped on the side of the road and watched for a bit, but I didn’t see any security!
I’d offer to come back and ra ke the parking area, but really I don’t think anyone uses it...

My wife owns an Chinese-Honda-knockoff scooter that she drove around L.A. while in school. I’ve been seeing your posts and thinking off painting it(currently hot pink). I have noticed that there are mini bike/scooter gangs are a thing. They have they leather vests with their own M.C. patches. My question is, want to start an Oppo mini bike MC? We would
n’t to deal m
eth
or anything like the Hells Angels or Gypsy Jokers.

I was caught doing donuts in a university parking lot. They weren’t too friendly about it.

Take this in the way it is intended, but that gif is highly amusing. Please post more scooterlopnik.

Ha, I haven’t done that in years. I used to have a few Vespas/Lambrettas and we started the first club in Hawaii, No Ka Oi! I still have a 1966 150 Super in storage but the rest are gone. I should have kept the lambretta. My P200E had a 10cc kit on it.

:) a buddy and I got busted by a local copy for doing snownuts in our high school parking lot - or actually, thinking about doing snownuts. She rolled up just before we did anything, “so guys, whatcha doin? I hope not goofing around in the snow, eh?” We were stupid punks and she was really good about it.

Clearly your next bike needs to be a dual sport not a street bike. You like playing in the dirt and taking jumps too much.
I took the Tomos for a half hour ride after dark last night just because I finally have working lights. 3 different cops saw my flashy purple underglow and paid me no mind.
On and I looped out on a wheely yesterday, that was a bit scary but I was only going like 3 mph so I caught it, didn’t drop the bike, or whiskey throttle it across the street. I didn’t even ruin my cargo. This milk crate make me so happy. I also used it for a run to the liquor store.

Thats awesome! Gr eat way to learn 2 wheel dynamics, too. I started in a 250 Nighthawk (probably less powerful than your scooter), then went to a CB-1 400cc for a brief period. Both were fun but I never really pushed either hard, so it was sometimes shocking when I jumped to a 1000cc bike and could accidentally do slides and rolling burnouts and all sorts of other things without really trying.
Can't wait for more videos! Be safe and keep it shiny side up!

IT’S HOT PINK. Why would you paint it again and come up short of that.

I like the milk crate! I may need to rig up something like that...

The easiest way to do and make it solid is to use some hose clamps around the rack that’s already thereZ
